Tim is a young, passionate and professional self-taught photographer based in Melbourne, Victoria. He’s an observer who always enjoyed documenting events – particularly family functions – in a unique, cinematic style. It wasn’t until Year 12 at Brighton Secondary when Tim decided eleven years of mathematics was enough, and took on photography instead. Under the guidance of Barry Kelly, Tim learned the basics and began his photographic career.
5 years at Flinders Drama Centre to train as an actor set Tim’s photography ambitions back, although he often practiced on weekends with friends. It was during these years that he slowly developed his style, improved his skills and acquired a taste for fashion and glamour photography.
Since graduating from Flinders in 2009, Tim had the opportunity to study at The Creative Centre for Photography in Sydney where he paid $170 per week for a shoebox room and a rock-hard mattress above a coffee shop who refused to employ him (Tim’s barista skills were never too flash). The experience was worth it though; Tim met and worked with Christian Blanchard – one of Australia’s leading fashion photographers.
Since then Tim moved back to his hometown of Adelaide where he became a nightclub photographer at various venues including Encore, Red Love Oz, The Pier, The Stag and The Archer to name a few. He’s also tackled a few weddings and hopes to do more in the nearby future. He now resides in Melbourne.
Tim’s visual style is bold, colourful and influenced by his love for film and television.
